In the 1950s and 1960s, bridge waterproofing materials were all made of hot asphalt mixtures; in the 1970s and 1980s, two layers of cloth and three layers of coating were used as waterproof layers; in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the development and promotion of waterproof layers made of hydrogenated polyethylene (CPE) waterproof membranes and polyurethane waterproof coatings began; in 2005, the “Interim Technical Conditions for Waterproofing Layers of Concrete Deck of Passenger Dedicated Line Bridges” was issued, covering the L-type fiber composite and N-type non-composite layer chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) waterproof membranes and polyurethane waterproof coatings composite methods; in 2007, the “Technical Conditions” were revised to add SBS polymer modified asphalt membranes. It can be seen that my country’s railway bridge waterproofing system is constantly developing with the improvement of the railway system’s technical requirements and the development of waterproofing technology.
